"Golden" by Miles Collins

FreeStyle: A hand-painted Artist Edition

In partnership with artist Miles Collins, we're dropping a 1-of-1 artist edition named "Golden," custom made by Miles in partnership with round21. Round21 is thrilled to partner with Miles, a USC student artist and creator, for the first time.

STORY:

From the Artist: My ball is inspired by the Japanese art style Kintsugi, which involves placing broken pottery together with gold and lacquer. This style of art accentuates the cracks in the pottery as opposed to hiding them. To me, Kintsugi means embracing difference and uniqueness which is something may find shameful in our world. It’s so important to embrace what is different and unique about yourself. I hope this piece inspires everyone to see the beauty in the cracks. 

THE ARTIST:

Miles Collins is a self-described "southern boy" based out of Los Angeles, California. He believes his art is driven by humanity and helping people feel something deeper. He explores his artistic expression traditionally via charcoal portraits. He often adds gold foil to his pieces, which inspired his first Round21 FreeStyle drop. Artists Miles looks up to for inspiration include Daniel Arsham, Salehe Bembury, Pharrell Williams, and Kohsin Finley. Post college, Miles hopes to continue to create more and subsequently help people feel more — and invites us to stick around for the ride.
